DON’T FORGET TO CELEBRATE

11/28/2017

How many times have we been part of a conversation like this…

Person 1: How have things been going?

Person 2: I had this big goal I had been working on reaching.

Person 1: How did it turn out?

Person 2: Well you know, I hit the goal, but now we have a new goal.

Person 1: Congratulations on hitting the big goal!

Person 2: Yeah it’s no big deal, this new goal is even bigger.
What’s new with you?

All of us have been both Person 1 and Person 2 in these types of conversations. This post is going to focus on Person 2.

Maybe it’s a Midwestern modest behavior thing. Maybe it’s a “woman thing” (that’s a whole other post). Maybe we just were never properly trained how to celebrate. No matter the reason, it seems that we never celebrate our achievements! We’re told to look at them as stepping stones towards a greater goal, but the small and big achievements that we make need to be recognized, celebrated, and receive their time in the spotlight.

As we end 2017, I hope you take a few moments to sit down and write a list of all the achievements you’ve made this year, both personally and professionally. After you make that list, I want you to do the following:

CELEBRATE THEM!

Even when we sometimes feel alone on our entrepreneurial path, there are lots of people that want to celebrate you and your successes. Never be shy to share successes with your team, followers, family, friends, anyone and everyone because your accomplishments should be seen and heard.

It doesn’t matter how trivial the success might feel to you; write it down! Your list is not a critique of what you consider worthy of celebration. Rather, jot down each item with pride, knowing that because of you – and the team you have with you – success was reached.

…AND REMEMBER

YOU are a success!
YOU are successful!
YOU kicked a$$ in 2017!
YOU made a difference!
YOU are enough!
YOU have the skills needed for your company!
YOU have the knowledge to empower others to achieve their best!
YOU are a superhero!

I wish you a very happy, healthy, and safe Holiday Season! Doyenne wouldn’t be what it is as an organization without you. Thank you for being part of our 2017 success!

And if you see me around town, I can’t wait to hear about what’s giving you reason to celebrate.

Sincerely,

Heather
