JANUARY 2017 NOTE FROM DOYENNE GROUP EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

1/1/2017

Welcome to 2017!

Did you make a New Year’s Resolution? If you haven’t, or you are looking for one to add to your list, how about making the resolution to be true to yourself.

Every day we walk through our lives saying what we think others want us to say, and doing what we think they want us to do. Are you exhausted at the end of the day because of this?

I was recently reading a Doyenne Member’s post on her social media page calling out the haters in her life and how she’s dismissing them from her life. My first thought was ouch, I don’t know if she should do that, and then my next thought was I’m so proud of her because that takes a lot of courage and self awareness to feel confident enough to put that out there and open to criticism, go girl! And when I read the comments, my first thought was don’t feed the haters (there was some going back and forth with people telling her to delete it) and then good for her for standing her ground and not backing down when people tel her she’s in the wrong for calling out the crap she’s dealt with.
I wish I sometimes had this courage and internal strength to be this true to who I am and how I feel about experiences in my life.

As we enter 2017, make it the year where you begin being your true, authentic self. Take a chance on you, don’t listen to “the haters” or the voice inside you saying that you won’t be able to do it. Push the doubt and ugly comments aside and say yes to things that you normally wouldn’t. Put yourself in situations to better yourself personally and professionally even when you’re unsure what’s going to happen.
What you do matters, and what you bring to the world matters! Make sure no one dims your spotlight and when they do, tell them why you deserve to shine.

Let’s make this the best year yet, so that when you stand in your mirror in the morning while in power pose tell your reflection tell the little doubting voice inside yourself, “You don’t stand a chance against me. 2017, show me what you got!”

I hope to see you around town!
